Commercial Sandstone Worktops & Construction

When searching to get a work surface that's naturally beautiful, sandstone worktops could tick all the boxes. It gives a property an all-natural beauty that can not be acquired in the other material. Whether you’re hunting for a work surface that will compliment a modern day or traditional design, sandstone can deliver results that are inexplicable.

If the desired application is for an exterior project but were concerned about the materials weatering properties, this material would allieviate this concern as utilising sandstone outdoors you will have no need to worry about sun and rain conditions so long as the finished installation is protected from nature's elements. From a design and specification perspective, this material can be obtained in many shades to match the décor connected with all aspects of the project. Sandstone could make a perfect material for use as an alternative kitchen work surface or perhaps a exterior BBQ work surface option.

Sandstone Worktops & Construction

It might be worth noting that some sandstone worktops contain fossils integrated within the stone to offer an even more unique appearance. It’s certainly understandable why many people consider sandstone over traditional surface designs. It's acidity and alkali resistant which is utilised outdoors and within the interior of property design and application. As with every type of decorative stone, maintenance and preservation are the key fundamentals to longevity.

Sandstone Worktops & Construction as a material is quite easy to stain meaning it requires a little more attention to its specification and application to avoid disappointment. By wiping spills right after they take place, it is quite straight forward to avoid most permanent marks that could occur in the event where oily or acidic liquids are permitted to take hold within the stone surface. It is best to use a balanced PH cleansers for everyday maintenance. They're normally mild and unscented and contain no harsh chemicals that will damage the projects surface. Even a off-the-shelf mild washing-up liquid will be perfectly suitable as a daily cleaning product.

Avoid acidic skin cleansers because overtime, they can break down the polish inside the surfaces considerably faster than in the event of just using a standard washing-up liquid. This material could be used as a worktop option but it is not one that we would recommend within a kitchen environment as this is a softer material when compared to granite or quartz. This material is suitable to use within bathroom environments for cladding, bath surrounds or vanity tops. If a client requires large format pieces, slabs could be cut down into smaller large format tile size options but this would work out as an expensive option when compared to standard tiles as quarry, machine and transportation costs are considerably higher when compared to standard tile size options.

A factor to consider when deliberating on the use of sandstone is that this material absorbs more water in comparison to other stone options. High absorbency can result in material discolouration which impacts on where this material should be specified. Standard waste water created within a bathroom environment will not really cause greate discolouration issues within this material which can be professionally sealed by us but it is a point to consider when determining the suitability of application.
